Logistics is a sector that is changing at pace, with activities evolving in function of strong increases in demand and new complex challenges. The agreements from the Paris Climate Accord of 2015 also play a role.

  • Challenges for transport and logistics

    The transition to zero emission – in other words, no emissions of harmful substances – produces major challenges for transport and logistics. For example, the purchase of zero-emission vehicles, restrictions in operating radius, and charging and fuelling facilities. There are also challenges in terms of charging infrastructure, the facilities required for charging electric vehicles (EVs). Sitting back is not an option. This sector will have to take a look at what they can contribute to the carbon-reduction target. The logistics buildings and their adjacent sites can play their part by providing new answers, for example in the transition to low-carbon warehouses and offices. Creating opportunities by using sustainable energy sources for charging stations is all part of the options.

    For example, by linking those sources to the energy-management system (EMS). This is a software program that enables businesses to monitor, manage, and optimise their energy consumption.
